About Us
Mission
Del Oro Caregiver Resource Center is an independent, private, non-profit program funded by the CA Department of Aging, Area 4 Agency on Aging, grants and private contributions. Del Oro offers a host of free services to unpaid family caregivers in Northern California’s Gold Country counties -- Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, Colusa, El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Sierra, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba.
Del Oro's mission is to improve the well-being of family caregivers and provide support throughout the care giving process. One of our mottos is “caring for families who care.” We operate based on a few important guiding principles:
The family caregiver is the client: we provide the family caregiver assistance and support through a comprehensive package of services designed to enable families to keep their loved ones at home for as long as possible.
Family caregivers are the care managers for their loved ones: Families participate in planning and service delivery and retain maximum control over care planning and decision making.
Broad focus on all adult-onset brain impairments: Although we recognize that families face similar needs and caregiving issues across diagnostic categories, our services also try to address the unique situation of those caring for someone experiencing cognitive change/decline.
Values
As an organization, Del Oro operates based on a set of core values, which we apply in our relationships with colleagues and with clients.
