Mindfully Coping with Change: Some Tips for Caregiving during Coronavirus

Even before the pandemic began, supporting a loved one with dementia was difficult. Caring for someone with dementia sees regular changes in the loved one’s behavior and capacity, which is challenging to negotiate. Now, with the uncertainty and upheaval of the novel coronavirus, life has become even more complicated and often feels overwhelming. How can caregivers cope when it feels like they don’t have control over anything? How do they adapt to constantly changing circumstances? Join Becky Robinson, Regional Director at the Alzheimer's Association of Northern California and Northern Nevada, and Simone Nazzal, Education Coordinator at Del Oro Caregiver Resource Center, for an introduction to mindfulness and consideration of its application in caregiving situations during the age of COVID-19. In this interactive presentation, we’ll consider how mindfulness practice can assist caregivers in coping more healthfully with change and challenges.
