Please join us for this FREE in person event for family care partners/caregivers caring for persons with Mild Cognitive Impairment, Alzheimer’s disease, and all other dementia. We will learn more about:
Understanding Alzheimer's and Dementia
Alzheimer’s is not normal aging. It’s a disease of the brain that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior. Join us to learn about the impact of Alzheimer’s, the difference between Alzheimer’s and dementia, Alzheimer’s disease stages and risk factors, current research and treatments available to address some
symptoms, and Alzheimer’s Association resources.
Navigating Family Dynamics of Caregiving
People are living longer. Families are often geographically more spread out. Seeing our parents struggle to live independently is tough and can bring up many emotions. Families often find themselves stressed and tensions can rise; however, there are ways to offer patience and compassion for your family members as you navigate caregiving. Join us for this special session with Bernadette Abrea, ACSW, Family Consultant with Del Oro Caregiver Resource Center to discuss how to:
holding a family meeting
asking for support
having realistic expectations and communication
identifying resources to support your loved one
If you need someone to take care of your loved one in order to participate, respite may be available. Please request it no later than August 7, 2024 by calling Del Oro Caregiver Resource Center directly at 916-728-9333.
