Caregiver Survival Training--"Self-Care is NOT Selfish: Creating a Caregiver Survival Strategy” SUPPORT GROUP

Caregivers often put other people’s needs ahead of their own. They even tend to feel selfish if they take time to do something for themselves. This isn’t a good plan, because the only way you will be able to care for someone who cannot care for him/herself over an extended period of time, is to make your own physical, emotional, and mental health a priority. We hope you’ll join us to view the release of Elaine’s video recording, “Self-Care is NOT Selfish,” on Monday, September 28th, and then participate in the live, interactive group discussion on Wednesday, September 30th. This session will help you identify self-care strategies that make sense for you, such as:

  • Setting aside time for yourself

  • Getting the right equipment

  • Spending time out in nature

  • Learning something new

  • Staying connected socially

  • Redefining fun

  • Savoring happy memories

  • Seeking and accepting help

  • Developing your spiritual nature

  • Choosing your attitude

  • Accepting death as a part of life

  • Finding humor in absurd situations
