Frontotemporal Dementia Overview

  • Online (via ZOOM) (map)

Dementia is commonly thought of as something older people get and that it begins with problems with memory. Neither of these is generally true for a person with frontotemporal dementia (FTD). FTD starts in the frontal or temporal lobes and is the most common dementia for people under 60. The initial changes can affect behavior, personality, communication, or movement. Join Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) Ambassador Terry Walter, who knows FTD from a personal perspective, for this program that will bring light to a commonly misunderstood and misdiagnosed dementia, discuss the ways it can impact families, and highlight how AFTD brings help and hope to those living with the disease while also working toward a future free of it.

If you need someone to take care of your loved one in order to participate, respite may be available. Please request it no later than March 15, 2022 by calling Del Oro directly at 916-728-9333.
